About Me

Hi name is Michael I am 46 and have lived in Utah all of my life. Right out of school i started as labourer then became a welder in my uncle’s fabrication shop working mostly on farm machinery.

I have always had a love working with my hands. It came in handy later on when my wife Belinda and i bought our own small farm. It seems like every day without fail something needs to be fixed  and I complain about it all the time to Belinda but we both know I can’t help myself and deep down really love doing  the  repairs , it gives me great satisfaction to know you have fixed or made something yourself

At the moment I am refurbishing and old bus and we are setting it up for camping. All the running gear is ok so we just need to put another kitchen, some beds, shower and a toilet. I have allowed about 4 months for myself to finish that work and then we will be off. We plan to travel for about twelve months visiting old friends along the way as we head through to Washington for my younger brothers birthday early next year

When I get back I will start planning my next project. I was thinking of putting up a wind turbine and making some more electricity. I was given some old computer tape drive motors years ago but never got around to using them. A lot of people have been using  these as generators for their wind power systems and I have read they are very hard to come by so if you find any, hang on to them.

I hope my story and this website has inspired you to start your own DIY solar power project  and i look forward to adding more information over the next few months on  DIY  solar panels for homes
